In the spring of 1921, approximately 50 members the Women’s League at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign invited their moms to campus for the day.

The mothers attended a luncheon and activities planned by their daughters. The day was repeated yearly, and the event grew.

In 1923, the Dean of Women, President of the University and the President of the Dads Association asked Amelia Alpiner Stern, mother of an Illini student and an Illini alumni to form the university's very first Moms Association.

This is the very first known Moms Association in the US.
